Rad Power Bikes - An In-depth Overview

Revving up the electric bike industry since 2007, Rad Power Bikes has made a name for itself with its innovative designs, top-notch quality, and unbeatable affordability. These bikes are not just about getting from point A to B; they're about enjoying the journey, making every ride an adventure!

Now, I know I might sound like a broken record, always raving about Rad Power Bikes. But let me tell you, some of the best moments of my

day are spent on my Rad Power Bike. It's a sweet, smooth 30-minute ride to work and another 30 minutes back home. That's one whole hour of pure, unadulterated joy, covering six miles round trip.

My daily route takes me through the serene trails of Bear Creek Park, where every day brings a new discovery. There's a short stretch on a major street that requires a bit of extra vigilance. With distracted drivers around, it's crucial to stay alert and safe. After all, as we riders know, safety first!

If Rad Power Bikes ever needs a volunteer to test their e-bikes, I'm their man! Especially with this fantastic weather, there's nothing I'd rather do than spend more time outdoors on these beauties. Plus, with my JBL 5 speaker mounted upfront, my rides are always accompanied by my rockabilly playlist.

Believe it or not, my music choice seems to be a hit among passersby too! People often start dancing or shout out, "Hey, I love that song!" as I zoom past. Talk about spreading the joy of music!

But what makes Rad Power Bikes stand out in the crowd? It's their commitment to delivering a superior biking experience. Each bike boasts a sturdy aluminum frame for durability, a powerful 750W motor for a smooth, effortless ride, and a long-lasting battery that offers a range of 25-45 miles on a single charge. Perfect for long commutes or leisurely rides!

Rad Power Bikes aren't just about transportation; they're about transforming everyday commutes into exciting adventures. They make every ride an opportunity to explore, enjoy, and embrace life. So if you're looking for a fun, efficient, and environmentally friendly way to travel, Rad Power Bikes is the way to go!

Turn on the lights

One thing I had forgotten to mention was that I hung the outdoor Christmas lights yesterday.  It was so nice yesterday and just took me about an hour.   Didn't go with a big display just lights and garland wrapped around the hand rails coming up to the house.  One more item checked off the list.

I have a lot of traveling coming up in the near future.   Need to get some things done while I am home.  Not only with my to do list, Eric is graduating from college and we have a ceremony on the 16th followed by a little party.  He is then moving to Orlando to start an internship with a new company.  Very proud of him!

I got out this morning and got 3.5/Miles walking to work.  I had plans to leave work at 4:00 PM, but it was 6:00 PM when Candy picked me up.

Well at least I got a few miles in.  This puts me up to 69.15 Miles.  Getting closer to 100.

I Believe

Well the weatherman pulled it off.  He/She was correct, it did get cold and we got a dusting of snow.   I was told that we got hit pretty heavy up north.  Should make for a fun walk in the morning.  Supposed to be cold so will need to dress appropriately.

Once again I walked to work but then bailed on the walk home and caught a ride.  When I left this morning it was nice, but 10 minuets into my walk the sun went behind the clouds and it starting cooling off quickly.   Even so, I did get three miles in.  That puts me just over 55/Miles.

This evening we jammed out to Blessed Union of Souls.  One of my favorites.  I included the video I Believe above. Every time I hear them I want to learn to play piano.  The lyrics are awesome and heartfelt.

As I was walking this morning I looked back and thought this was a great view and snapped off a picture.

So if you are looking for something fun, I have included the video Downtown from Macklemore.  I think one of the reason I dig this so much is that it has Eric Nally from  Foxy Shazam in it.  If you have read my blog over the years, you know I am a huge Foxy Shazam fan.  If you are not familiar with Foxy Shazam,  let me welcome you To The Church of Rock N Roll and follow that up with a Holy Touch.

These songs will definitely have you picking up the pace on the trail.  If you come across me, I might be dancing as I go.

The Grass is Always Greener

How many times have we heard the cliche, “The grass is always greener on the other side?” But as I looked again at the picture I took yesterday, the grass is actually greener on the other side.

So let's see I did walk to work again today, but wussed out and caught a ride home again this evening.  When I left this morning Pebbles was giving me the look.  I was going solo and didn't want to take her to work.  She was bummed.

So with the walk this morning that gets me up to 52.5 Miles.   Will try to do the round trip tomorrow.

When I got home this evening it was time to cook dinner.  I needed to get into the mood so put some tunes on. This evening it was Quarterflash and Aldo Nova.  We rocked out to both of these bands in the 80's.  Yep we are old.   I mean who do you know that shows up in a helicopter and jumps out wearing a leopard jumpsuit and then blow the doors open with his guitar.  I mean that is just awesome.  I wish I could get away with it.

For dinner I cooked a steak, baked potato and a bag of salad.   Candy and I split the steak and each had a potato and salad.   I cooked the steak in an iron skillet with some butter.  We use our iron skillet all the time, everything just seems to taste great.  I cooked the potatoes in the microwave and pretty much dumped the bag of salad in a bowl.

On the way to work this morning I stopped and took a picture of the creek I walk along everyday.   As I was crossing the bridge and thought this was a great photo opp.

Once again we had a beautiful day.  It was in the 70's and we should have all been outside playing.  Hard to believe that tomorrow we are supposed to have snow and the temperature is going to drop down to 26.  That's Colorado!

I am ready for some snow.  It is very dry as we haven't had any moisture in several weeks and the fire danger is high.

The Tortilla

I came across the Tortilla Moon picture today when running through FB.  Have to say that brought a smile to my face.   Very creative idea and made me laugh.  Now that I am writing about it I might need to go heat one up.

Never made homemade tortillas.  Went and looked up the recipe.  Might have to give it a try if I have time, but they are so easy just to get at the store.

I fell down on the job today.  Manged to get up and walk to work.  Got 3.5 Miles in but tonight I bailed and caught a ride.  I was tired.   Got to sleep just after 1:00 AM and then then up at 5:15 AM and was on the trail an hour later.  I was pretty busy at work today and when I looked up at the clock at work it was already 5:45 PM and with being tired I was like, find a ride.  Actually Eric was just leaving so I snagged a ride with him.  He was headed to the house anyway to get some grub, so it worked out well.

Adding in the 3.5 Miles from today that gets me up to 49 Miles over the last 10 days.

This morning on the way to work I came across three deer down in the creek.  Everyone needs water!  They smiled, looked at the camera and let me take they're picture.

Going Solo

Today it was just me out on the trail.   Candy and Pebbles were ready to take a break for the day.   I logged 5.3/Miles on my hike this morning.   I left early and it was a great day/morning to be out.  Didn't see to many other people and pretty much had the trail to myself.  Up to 39/Miles, ready to step it up this next week.

This is my route that I took today.  Hope the weather continues to hold.

You've Got Mail

We had to go to the post office today as Candy had a small package she needed to mail.   So for our hike today we decided we walk to the post office and back.  We ended up with a little over 4.5/Miles.  Most of it was trail, but we covered a lot of sidewalk today as well.  We had a great time and Pebbles was excited to be out.  With today's distance I logged 33.7/Miles for the week.  Hopefully I can step it up next week.

I may have said this already, but I can't believe the weather we are having.   Today it was in the 60's and looks like it will be all next week as well.

Get in the Groove

For this old man I have had a pretty decent week.   I am talking about getting my ass out and walking daily.  I started on Sunday, daylight savings day.  Got up early  and got a couple of miles in.

Then I walked to work and back everyday this week, except for Thursday when I did the treadmill.  Got up and 5:00 AM and have gotten up just as early every day this week.   I have manged to get 29.2 Miles in this week.   I have to say it feels pretty good to be back in the groove.

All the miles I am tracking are from my Garmin that I use.  It goes on my wrist like a watch.  I am able to track my routes, distance, elevation and more.   I only use it when I head out for my hikes, so I don't track every step when using the ftibit.  I can load my routes into google earth and see where I have been.

BCP

Candy and I headed over to BCP to get some walking in.   I didn't walk to work today, so I had to get out this evening.  We took Pebbles with us and she was able to be off the leash for most of our walk.  We got 3 miles in and had some decent elevation gain.

As always Pebbles had a blast and was bouncing all over.   She came across a couple of dear.  She doesn't' bark but she will gives a little whine.  Grass Hoppers drive her nuts as she tries to catch them.

I snapped a picture of a black billed magpie that we came across.  I need to investigate a new pocket camera because my cell phone just doesn't cut it.

On the trail

I got up at 5 AM this morning.  Hung out outside on the patio and checked the news and my email.  Showered up and then cooked up an egg to go with my lettuce and tomato.

We were out the door just before 7 AM and on the trail.  Took Donkey with us and she was happy to be out.  I took the camera with me as I was wanting to see if I could get a better picture of the shrew.   Well it was MIA today but I did see a nice buck and a little rabbit.

Fall

I have a love hate relationship with Fall.   I enjoy the temperatures and the changing of the colors, but I hate the yard work that comes along with it.   I spent a good three hours working in the yard today picking up leaves.   I used the lawn mower and bagged.   I could take two swipes and then have to empty the bag.  I ended up with eight large trash bags.  The yard looks great now, but in a day or two, I will have everyone else's leaves back in my yard and driveway.

I didn't get out on the trails as far as I would have liked to today.  Had Candy and dogs with me.   Candy and Pebbles do great, but old Mable has a hard time.  She sure tries, I will give her that.  She doesn't hear or see so great, so if we get to far ahead she gets a little confused.  She walks into things on the trail as well.  But again, she gives it hell.

We just did a little loop around the park.  It was nice out today and I was surprised that we didn't see anyone.

Over the weekend I have been working on my quilt table.  I have made some good progress but have a long way to go.  Candy says I need to have it done and moved before Thanksgiving so we can use the dining room.

Out on the trails.....

Pebbles and I got up and took off for a little hike this morning.  It was a little cool out, but I was dressed for it.  Pebbles didn't seem to mind as far as I could tell.   We did just about 5/miles and she was off the leash for the most part.  She does really good except for when we come across other pooches.

My fitbit blew craps and isn't working any more.   So I am back to using my Garmin GPS.  I actually think I will prefer using my GPS as I can route it out on Google Maps.  It will also allow me to track my elevation.

I started a new spreadsheet to track my distance and my meals.  If I can just get in the habit of using it daily I will be off to a good start.

Pebbles took some time to check out the creek this morning.  She was all wound up after getting in.

The Circle of Life

I got up early and left the house to walk to work.  Took the long way and just about hit my daily goal by the time I arrive.  I was at 4.7/Miles.  Throw in the back and forth around the office and then the walk home I am just about at 9/Miles for the day.

As I was walking to work and almost out of the Park and to get on 8th street.  I could see this red headed bird head bopping up and down.  At first I thought it might be a pheasant or a turkey.  As I started walking through the grass it took off.  Turns out it was a red headed buzzard.  This is the first one I have seen around here.  As I approached to take its picture I caught a whiff of something decomposing.

The buzzard had been picking at a dead dear.   If it is still there tomorrow I will claim the head.  Oh don't go freaking out.  I have about 5 skulls in the backyard under a tree.  So I need to make sure I pack a couple of trash bags tonight.

This evening I was sitting in the backyard and the blue jays were going ape shit and squawking up a storm.  When we went to look a Hawk was sitting in there nest eating a baby chick.  Candy three a couple of pine cones at it and it flew off with the chick in its clutches.

Afternoon Hike

I left the house this morning at 7AM and drove up to Denver.   I had meetings and had to get my passport renewed for an up coming trip.   I arrived back home at 4PM and as soon as I walked in the door I changed into my hiking clothes and hit the trail.   I really wanted to take some pictures as we had fresh snow and it was beautiful out.  Here are a couple of pics from my outing.

I got me some uphill

Well looks like I will hit the 100 mile mark this month.   I managed to rack up some miles the last couple of days.   On Friday I took the long way home and was able to get 6.5 miles logged.   I came home through lower BCP.   I came through a section that had a long area of tall shrubs off to the right of the trail.  In the shrubs their were numerous birds.   The were whistling and chirping away.   I stopped and record the sounds on my phone.   It actually came out pretty well, I may have to make it my new ring tone.   On the way home I was on the hunt for Coyotes.   I didn't find any but I did find a what I think is Coyote den.   Will have to check this week and see if I can see any coming or going.

This morning we logged 5.8 miles by doing Section 16.   We haven't done this route in a while so it was nice to be back on it.   Guessing we saw 12 to 15 people today, including other hikers, joggers and a couple of bicyclist.   This trail has a pretty good incline to get you started and then a gradual decent.   As of writing this I can feel today's hike in my upper thighs.  I included our route today and the elevation profile.   I had forgotten to turn the GPS on when we left the trail head so that's why you see the gap.

We went out to see the new GI Joe movie.   It was OK, lot's of pretty faces and lots of action.   You can beat movie popcorn.

Just need to get 3.5 miles in and I will break a 100 miles.   Guess we will walk the dogs over to the dog park and make a lap or two.    Going to have to go early as we are having Easter brunch at McKenzie's Chop House.  I don't think either one of us felt like spending all day cooking a big dinner, as it's just Candy, Clark and I.  Eric has been out in Santa Monica visiting a friend and get's home tomorrow evening.   I tried to get us into the Cheyenne resort but the earliest they could seat us was 3:30 pm.   That's was just way to late in the day.

The Day After

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a Happy New Year!  It was pretty quiet around the Robinson house this year.    The boys, Candy and I, were together on Christmas Eve, we ate on the snacks that Candy had made and then opened presents.   Everyone seemed pretty happy with what they received.  On Christmas Day, we had all our favorites.   Candy cooked up a rib roast, cheesy corn, mashed potatoes, garlic salad and more.

We were supposed to make a quick trip out to KS to see family.  But on Christmas day we decided we were going to stay home and relax and get ready for 2013.   I hated to miss my Dad’s Birthday, but with all the travel I have done this year being home with some time off is something I need.

I headed out this morning and did a 5.2/mile loop.   As I was walking down the street to the trail head I caught one of our neighbor’s feeding one of the deer.  She stood with a bag in one hand and her other hand was out flat and the deer was eating from it.  I will have to keep my video camera handy so I can get some footage for the television show When Animals Attack.

While on the trail, I did manage to get a couple of decent pictures of a chickadee and magpie.   I was lucky that they sat still long enough, which is usually the problem.   It was cold out this morning, around the mid 20’s.   I was dressed warm enough so the cold didn't bug me.  Made my way down along the creek and took a couple of pictures.   The snow still covered the trail and the trees.   With the light breeze blowing snow off the tree’s it almost appeared as if it were snowing.

We went to see The Hobbit this afternoon.  I really enjoyed it and the 2+ hours blew by pretty quick.   Many of the same characters from the previous movies were in this movie as well as many new characters.   If you were a fan of the Lord of Rings trilogy, you will probably like The Hobbit.

Nuthatch

Slept in till 8:30 AM this morning.  We had a cup of coffee and then dressed to head out for a walk.  Walked over to BCP and did a loop around and back to the house.    It was cool out but not bad, I had on my gloves and hat and could have gone without them.

As we were making our way up the trail Candy spotted this White-breasted Nuthatch.  I managed to snag a picture as he was working his way up and down the trunk looking for food.

Home again!

Wow, I was on the road last week and it was a busy week, but home now and trying to get back into the groove.   Did 3.5/miles this morning and it felt good to be back on the trail.   I am going to try to walk to work everyday this week and keep the walking up through the Holidays.

I counted 15 deer this morning.  They are like rats around here.  Speaking of rats, for the last week we have had the smell of something dead in the office. Found it last night, we had a dead mouse under the book shelve.  Not sure where the hell he/her got in from.

It was cool out this morning, guessing in the mid 20's when I left the house.   Made a run up through BCP and over to the nature center and back.   I should have gone a little further but needed to get home so I can go fight with people at the Mall.   I am not ready for the holidays and I can't believe that this year is almost over, but it is so suck it up.

Below is my track and elevation log for today.

Ricardo Gonzalo Pedro Montalbán y Merino

Mortally wounded, Khan activates the Genesis Device, which will reorganize all matter in the nebula including the Enterprise. Though Kirk's crew detects the activation of the Genesis Device and the Enterprise attempts to move out of range using impulse engines, with the warp drive damaged they will not be able to escape the nebula in time. Spock leaves the bridge and goes to the engine room to restore the warp drive. When McCoy tries to prevent Spock's exposure to high levels of radiation, he incapacitates the doctor with a Vulcan nerve pinch and then performs a mind meld, telling him to "Remember". Spock restores power to the warp drive and the Enterprise escapes the explosion. Kirk arrives in the engine room, where Spock dies of radiation poisoning. The explosion of the Genesis Device causes the gas in the nebula to reform into a new planet, sustainable of life. A space burial is held in the Enterprise's torpedo room and Spock's coffin is shot into orbit around the newly formed planet. The crew leaves the planet to pick up the Reliant's marooned crew from Ceti Alpha V. In the final scene Spock's coffin is seen to have soft-landed on the planet.

Ricardo Gonzalo Pedro Montalbán y Merino - November 25, 1920 – January 14, 2009) was a Mexican radio, television, theatre and film actor. He had a career spanning seven decades (motion pictures from 1943 to 2006) and many notable roles. During the mid-1970s, Montalbán was notable as the spokesman in automobile advertisements for the Chrysler Cordoba, in which he famously extolled the "fine Corinthian leather" used for its interior. He also advertised the Chrysler New Yorker.[1] From 1977 to 1984, he became famous as Mr. Roarke the main star in the television seriesFantasy Island. He played Khan Noonien Singh in both the 1967 episode "Space Seed" of the first season of the original Star Trekseries, and the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. He won an Emmy Award in 1978 for his role in the miniseries How the West Was Won[2] and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Screen Actors Guild in 1993. Into his 80s, he continued to perform, often providing voices for animated films and commercials, and appearing in several Spy Kids films as "Grandfather Valentin".

Why the tribute to Ricardo, I don’t know.  I was watching him in Star Trek II this evening and that made me remember him from the old Chrysler Cordoba commercials and Fantasy Island back in the day.   In the late 80’s I was driving a 1975 Chrysler Cordoba with rich Corinthian Leather.  It was burgundy in color and a pretty decent car being that when I got it was already 10 years old. People used to give me shit when they would get in, oh, feel the rich Corinthian Leather. LOL

Hit the trail this evening about 4:30 PM, it was already getting dark.   I did a 6.8 mile loop up through Bear Creek Park and up the mountain and down the other side to High Drive.   I had two head lamps with me and I needed them.   One was on my head and the other attached to the chest strap on my back pack.  If you are going to hike in the dark, make sure you know the trail and where you are going or you will get lost.   I had a pretty good time and didn't fall on my ass.  This is the route that I took this evening.

Twenty Nine

It was back to Denver today.  The trip up this morning took longer than expected.   I was moving along pretty good until coming into Castle Rock.  Traffic was at a snails pace and it took about 15 minutes to cover 2 miles.   A car was against the retaining wall and the front end was pretty smashed in.  A little further up was a pickup truck in about he same shape.  Looked like both drivers were OK, but pretty rattled.  I know I would be.  With the Police, the wrecked cars and two big tow trucks, we were down to one lane and everyone trying to merge together.  I got to the office about 9:30.  I started back to the Springs at 4:40, was home by 6PM.  The traffic back was heavy but everyone was moving at the speed limit.

I really didn't want to walk this evening, but I did a quick change and grabbed my hiking pack and was out the door before I could even talk myself out of it. Made my way up the street and into Bear Creek Park http://adm.elpasoco.com/PARKS/Pages/BearCreekNatureCenter.aspx .  I started out on the same route that I had taken yesterday for about the first mile and then caught a side trail.  Today I can confirm how Bear Creek Park got it's name.   As I was hiking along the top of a gully I came around the bend and about 30 yards on the other side of the gully, it looked like a there was a deep hole on the side of the hill.  I had been through here before and never seen this.    Well this hole starts moving and get's up and starts walking away into the trees/shrubs.  It was a decent size black bear, he turned and looked at me for just a second, but he was gone.  It was 7PM, just about dusk.

I dug the camera out of the pack in the hopes that I might get another opportunity. After seeing him I started paying a little better attention.  I did find several piles of scat that had apple in it.  Not talking about a little apple but a lot.  I have seen a couple of crab apple tree's in the area.  Might have to head back over and see if I can spot him/her again.  Since I had the camera out I snapped a picture looking back towards the mountains.

So I am up to 29/Miles for the month.  Not bad, just need to keep after it.  The diet is going OK, I could do better but cookies keep showing up in the kitchen. :-)
