Back to Work

Oh man, back to work tomorrow.   I managed to get a few things done around the house and shop this weekend.   On Saturday the temperature was in the mid 60’s.  This was the chance I needed to spray some sealer on a few projects.

I completed my Lemoyne quilt table this weekend.   I have been working on this since November.   The last thing that I needed to do was to spray the base with sealer.   It has just been too cold to do it. Well this weekend was the perfect weather.   Got it all sprayed and then once dried reassembled.

Now I need to get a glass top cut for it.  Still not sure what we are going to do with it.   It is a pretty awesome piece.   I just couldn’t get rid of it when we got a new table and had to give it a new life.

I finished painting another rotary hoe tiller wheel.   With the weather being so nice I was able to spray and seal them.  I now have four done and only need to do one more.    Three in the back and two in front should look pretty good.  The three in the back will be higher than the two in the front and they will offset each other.  With everything I have going on it will be a few weeks before I can start working on the base.

Our old dog Mable freaked out on us on Saturday.   We took off for our walk and headed up to BCP.   We let the dogs off the leash so they could run around.  Well old Mable decided she was going home.   When we would get close to her she would run.   Then just ran and headed back towards the way home.   She got away from us, but she found her way home.   She was there when we got back.  She is half blind and doesn’t hear well.  We have no idea what spooked her but she decided she was done and going home.

Today I spent about 4 hours at the shop.  It was a mess and I had stuff lying all over.   Took the air hose and blew the dust off the work benches and put all the tools away.  Cleaned up the trash and threw out some stuff I was holding onto and will never use, so I let it go.  Swept and swept some more. Looks pretty good and now I can figure out another project so I can mess it all up again.

Hoe Wheels

I have now completed three wheels.  I have two more that I need to get done.  If we can get some warm weather this weekend I will be able to spray these and get them sealed.

Next will be to build the base and the stems which will be made from galvanized steel pipe.  Going to try to put some bends in the pipe so the stems will have a more realistic look to them.  Can't believe that Candy is going to let me put this up in our backyard.   The hoe wheels will be 5 to 6+ feet high.

Can You Dig It!

How is it going my friends.  Sorry for not getting some updates in here sooner, just been busy. Can you dig it.

I was on the road last week.  Got to travel to Los Angeles for client meetings.  Have to say that I had a great time.  Had the opportunity to meet with several of our clients and learn more about them and to see how else we could assist them.  It was a jam packed week.  I had scheduled nine meetings and ended up having two cancellations.  I spent a lot of time in the car and didn't cover to many miles.  Spent a lot of time in traffic.

One of the highlights was that I got to meet Jay Leno.   I was in the restaurant already seated.  Jay came in a few minutes later and was at the table next to me.  I was that guy and stopped him to say hello and get a picture.  We briefly talked corvettes.

I got home late Friday night, guess it was about 11PM.  Saturday the weather was awesome here. I made my way over the shop to do some cleaning and try to finish up a few outstanding projects.

I worked on the base for my Lemoine Star Table.  I got it tore down and sanded.  Cleaned it all up and painted it white to match the table.   I also cleaned up one of my old tiller wheels and primed it for painting.

Sunday wasn't as warm, I think the high was 45.   I really needed the temperature to be up in the 60's as I was ready to spray sealer on my table base so that I could finish up the project.  Well it looks like it will be warm enough this weekend.  Really excited to get this project done.  It looks really awesome.

I brought home my tiller wheel and worked on the dining room table to paint it.  I am going with a poppy theme.  This is the first of 3 or 4 that I will be painting.
I have several tiller wheels of different types and designs and will be creating a large piece of yard art.  This one will be made using cast iron pipe to build out the stems and base to support the tiller wheels weight.  Each of them way about 12 to 15 pounds.  Would hate for one of these to fall on someone.  Definitely do some damage to you.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been doing some makeovers on some old hand irons that I came into.  This is a picture of the second one that completed.  Candy is using them as bookends.

Home this week.  The weather out in CA was in the 80's.  Loved it, being that it has been so cold in Colorado.   As I am writing this it is cold and snowing.  I think the weather man said we could get 2 to 4 inches.  Joy, joy!

She loves me!

Oh man, Candy cooked up one of my favorites this evening.  She made Bierox also know as German Hamburgers.   We ate these with hot sauce.  They are also great when smothered in cream gravy.   She knocked out about two dozen, so I have something to take with me on my hike tomorrow.

IWANTU

What up?  It's Friday, yeah ready for a break.  I have a big week coming up so ready to chill.   I need to get some hiking in this weekend, that's for sure.

Last weekend I picked up some old irons at the auction.  Got them for about 5 a piece.   I had no idea what I was going to do with them but figured I could come up with something.    They have been sitting on the dining room table all week.

The weather was awesome here today.  When I left work it was 59.  Yes I left work a little early today.   It was just to nice out and we haven't had a day like this in a couple weeks.  I needed some sunshine.

I came home and wrapped up my last couple of calls and then headed over to the shop.   I took an iron with me to see what I could come up with.   This is the 1910 Strause Gas Iron Co. IWANTU comfort iron no. 6.

I took it all apart and then took my grinder with a wire wheel and cleaned all the pieces up.  Then I taped off what I needed to and painted it.  I used what I had and figure the red and blue would represent hot and cold.

So now I have a painted clothes iron and need to figure out what to do with it.   I need a door stop at work, so next time I go in, I will take it with me.

Congratulations Denver Bronco’s

Wow, they pulled it off and won Super Bowl 50, congratulations!  Candy or should I say Joe-lisa and I spent the afternoon at a friend’s house in Castle Rock.  We hung out and had some great food, and plenty to drink.   Kicked back and watched the game and the commercials.

We still have a ton of snow on the ground around here and it has been cold.  That is my precursor to me saying that I haven't gotten out the trails.   I did get out and go snow shoeing the day after the big snow.  We ended up with about 15/inches.   Had a blast, but man it wore me out.   I am making plans to walk to work tomorrow.  It is going to be wet and muddy.
