Hawk

It was a nice walk to the office this morning, once I got off our street.  We still have ice on the road from the last snow storm.  About fell on my ass a couple of times.  I stepped out on the back patio at the office and in the tree out back a hawk was resting on a branch.

I really need to invest in a new camera.  The quality I am getting from my little Casio isn't so great and my other camera has issues.

Time

I haven't walked at all this week and I feel like shit about it.   Well like they say, every day we are born again. What we do today is what matters most.  The weather has been cold this last week so that has been a deterrent.

Monday night I spent time at the shop working on the Ranchero and making a list of to do's.  I got the headlights working and the front turn signals.  Need to spend some time on the rear tail lights next.  Lots of things to do, need to figure out the order to proceed.

1957 Ford Ranchero

I picked up a new project today.  Actually I have been working on this for about 4 months.  Closed the deal today and I am now the proud owner of a 1957 Ford Ranchero.   Have my work cut out for me for the next several months.   Will keep you posted on my progress.

As said by Frank Drebin

  • It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.
  • Like a blind man at an orgy, I was going to have to feel my way through.
  • Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to stay on my toes.
  • Oh, that would be me. I've been swimming in raw sewage. I love it!
  • Nice beaver!
  • We're sorry to bother you at such a time like this, Mrs. Twice. We would have come earlier, but your husband wasn't dead then.
  • It's true what they say: Cops and women don't mix. It's like eating a spoonful of Drano; sure, it'll clean you out, but it'll leave you hollow inside.
  • Well, when I see five weirdos, dressed in togas, stabbing a man in the middle of the park in full view of a hundred people, I shoot the bastards, that's *my* policy!

Day by day

Whats up!  It is turning cold this evening and we are supposed to get a little snow tomorrow.  I am scheduled to be up in Denver for a mid-morning meeting so the commute should be fun.   In the afternoon I have a meeting back in the Springs, so I am hoping we don't get much snow, none at all would be fine with me.

Oh the walking is off and on this month, up to 48.5/Miles.  I have 10 days that have goose eggs on my tracking chart.   Most of my walking has been to and from work.  Although today I did my walking at the office.  The company bought  LifeSpan TR1200-DT Desktop Treadmills for each of our offices. Today I did two miles at lunch and did a conference call and checked email.   I have actually seen several people using it. I snagged a picture of Eric as he was trying it out.

The last couple of days I have been listing to the song Hero of War by Rise Against.   This one will bring a lump to your throat and a tear to your eye or at least it did for me.   Tonight I actually watched the video for the song.  I prefer just listing to the song.

Guido

Quoted from Father Guido Sarducci - Life is a job. You get $14.50 a day, but after you die, you have to pay for your sins. Stealing a hub cap is around $100. Masturbation is 35 cents (it doesn't seem like much, but it adds up). If there's money left when you subtract what you owe from what you've earned, you can go to heaven. If not, you have to go back to work. (Sort of like reincarnation -- many nuns are Mafia guys working it off.)

According to the Father I am up to about $265K.  I guess I better take those hub cap's back!

I managed to spend some time on the treadmill yesterday and walked to and from work today, so wracked up a few extra miles.

No respect

When you look at this way!

Let's go fishing

I’m pretty excited, Candy and I are making a trip down to Sanibel island of the coast of FL. in May.  I booked us a condo and got our flights scheduled this weekend.  We are going during a time when the Tarpon fishing is supposed to be at its best.   Not only that the place we are going is known for having the largest known concentration of tarpon in the world.  We have three half day fishing scripts scheduled while we are there.   I have never been Tarpon fishing but these fish are monsters.

Tarpons grow to about 4-8 ft.  long and can weigh 60-280 lbs. Tarpons are considered one of the
great saltwater game fishes. They are prized not only because of their great size, but also because of the fight they put up and their spectacular leaping ability.

Another great thing about this trip is that Sanibel island is rated as #1 top 10 beaches for collecting sea shells.  We had a great time in San Diego finding shells, so this should be fun.

Hot Rod

You are such a wussy

Wussy, is that really a word? n. Slang A person regarded as weak or timid and especially as unmanly.  OK, well that is me for the last three days.  I have had the best of intentions to get out and walk, but it didn't happen.  I have a great excuse for each day though.

So what did I get done this weekend.  On Thursday the wind kicked up about midnight and blew most of the following day.  I got a picture from Eric and the wind had blown down the gate at the shop.   I spent Saturday repairing it, didn't take long.  So I then made 60 soap holders for Candy.  I have a pretty decent process down now so it only took me about 30 minutes.   The car in the picture is a 67 MG. It's a cute little convertible but not for me. Belongs to a friend, it is for sale if you are interested.   I tried to fire up the Model A, but the battery was dead.   I put the charger on it and then headed over the Harbor Freight.  I am looking for a bench mounted combo belt and disk sander.  Little to my surprise they were having a 3-day sale!  The store was packed.  I did find what I was looking for, but they were out of them.  I got paperslip that I can get it for the same price when it comes in.

I have located a 57 Ford Ranchero I am interested in.  It is local to the springs, but the owner is in St. Louis.   The interior is done and the body is just about ready for paint and all the chrome has been redone. Things work out, I might be starting this project in March.

I am going to stick with the color that has already been used for the interior.   I found this picture below of what I hope my project will look like once completed.

Night Out

Not often that I can round the boys up.  But I did the other night and we all had a great time!

Hell Yeah!

3.33

Well I am off to a decent start for the year.  As of today I am up to 30.42/Miles.   I have two days with goose eggs.  It has been a mix of hiking on the trails and doing the treadmill, I prefer the trails. Even with the cold weather I have managed to get out, and it has been cold.

This is the routes that I have taken when I walk the trails and below that is my distance tracker.

Snow

We got some snow today, more than what the weatherman was calling for.  I think we ended up with about 5 inches.   I headed out this morning about 9 AM, it was snowing pretty hard when I left and it was in the low 20’s.   Managed to get 4.5/Miles in and when I returned I shoveled the driveway.

The last four days I have gotten out and hit the trails.  I am up to 21.4/Miles for the month.  I just checked the weather and even though we won’t have snow it is going to be cold out.   Going to take the snowshoes with me tomorrow, but I doubt I will need them.

Happy New Year!

Well there you go, 2013 is now behind us.  Please don’t ask me where the year went as I can’t believe it is over.    I hope you had a great 2013 and wish you all the best for the coming year.  I have been off work for the last week and it has been nice, tried to unplug to the best of my ability.  Spent a lot of time at the shop working on various projects which included finishing my shelving, making soap trays and storage boxes.

We made it through Christmas.  It was just Candy, Clark and I this year.  Eric was in Wisconsin with his girlfriend and her family.   So for the most part it has been pretty low key around here.   I did get out and do a few hike’s, but not as many as I should have.    Candy and I ventured out this morning and did a nice 5 mile loop.   It was nice out, just a little windy.
