Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2013! Here it is ready or not. Hard to believe that 2012 has come and gone, but it has.   I should probably do a retrospect posting, but I don’t see that happening or at least not this evening.   For New Years eve, we hung out at home and kicked back, worked on getting my task list updated and watched TV.   Watched the Ball drop in NYC and then hit the sack.

Did you make any resolutions?   If you did good luck to you and I am sure you can make it happen.  I made one and that is to spend more time working on my blog.   I figure if I can do that, it will keep me active and on the look out for new things to learn and share.

I have managed to keep pretty busy these last couple of days.   Spent Sunday at the shop working on the Model A and hanging on the new parts I got for Christmas.    I got it running and drove it out of the shop and it died.    I couldn’t get it started so I ended up using a chain and the Avalanche to pull it back in.   It was a trick doing it by myself, but I did it.

Once back in the shop, I hooked the charger back up to the battery.   I went ahead and pulled off the exhaust manifold and pull the exhaust pipe and muffler.   Pulled the carburetor off and am having a guy rebuild it for me.  Had to order a couple of other items and they should be here in a couple of days.  I am getting closer.

We went out this morning and did a quick two miles.   It was pretty cold out but we couldn't let that stop us from getting some miles on board for the first day of the New Year.   Candy snapped this picture of me this morning while on the trail.

After got back we loaded up in the truck and drove over to the auction house.   They were having a big sale today.  The place was packed but we made our way through.   We found three items that we had an interest in.   We didn’t want to hang there all day so we placed absentee bids on the items.   No one called so I guess we must have been outbid.

It’s back to work tomorrow after having a week off.  I am ready to go and have lots to do.  I have a good feeling about what 2013 has the potential to be and plan on taking advantage of each and every day.

Late Sleepers

We slept in this morning, even with the alarm going off.   Turned it off and slept until 9am.  I shouldn't have stayed up so late last night watching Netflix.    I had a coupon for a free car wash and decided to run my truck over and wash and clean out the inside.   Before doing so I went over the Home Depot and grabbed a box of screws.  I looked around for awning support posts.   I need to replace the three post that support our awning out back.   Looks like I am going to have to find an awning or metal works works company.  Ok, It's on the list.  The other big item on my list is the basement bathroom.   I need to get the shower redone and a new door.  It needed help when we bought the house 12 years ago.   It has made it through two teenagers, but it's time to get it done.  Looking at going with http://www.rebath.com/

After getting the truck all cleaned up, I headed over to the shop and starting watering the tree's.   We have 5 that we planted last year.  They are doing well and this was probably the last time I will need to water them for the year.   It takes 10 minutes or more to water each one.   While waiting on the water I opened up the shop and fired up the Model A and drove it around to the side of the yard where the tree's are.   Gave the truck a good rinsing and drove it around the block and back into the shop.  Gave it a quick dry with a towel.   When I finished the tree's I set the sprinkler and fired up the vette.   Backed it out and locked up the shop.  Drove over to the car wash and cleaned up and headed home.

Candy was finishing up paying the bills.  When she got done we took the vette over and mailed the bills.  Then took a spin through Old Colorado City and up to Manitou Springs.  The weather was great today so it was a good day to take a drive out under the sun.   We pulled back into the shop and locked up the doors.  Turned off the water and headed home.

I plan on walking to work tomorrow and will take the long way and make up for not walking today.

Ready for warmer days!

Worked back over at the shop this evening and tried to get a little more done.   I got a few more straps on the fence and a few more studs put up.   I hope to have the east wall done this weekend if it warms up.

I will be up to Denver tomorrow and Thursday for meetings with clients.  Weather is supposed to turn cold and possibly snow.

I did take the Ford Modal A out for a spin around the block this evening.  I need to change out all the fluids and grease it up before I take again.  Ok, so we did buy another Model A truck, so now we have two of them.   This deal came up and we felt it was too good to pass on and we had the room to keep it.

This truck is pretty much all original and looking forward to getting it out on the road once I check everything out.
