We slept in this morning, even with the alarm going off. Turned it off and slept until 9am. I shouldn't have stayed up so late last night watching Netflix. I had a coupon for a free car wash and decided to run my truck over and wash and clean out the inside. Before doing so I went over the Home Depot and grabbed a box of screws. I looked around for awning support posts. I need to replace the three post that support our awning out back. Looks like I am going to have to find an awning or metal works works company. Ok, It's on the list. The other big item on my list is the basement bathroom. I need to get the shower redone and a new door. It needed help when we bought the house 12 years ago. It has made it through two teenagers, but it's time to get it done. Looking at going with http://www.rebath.com/
After getting the truck all cleaned up, I headed over to the shop and starting watering the tree's. We have 5 that we planted last year. They are doing well and this was probably the last time I will need to water them for the year. It takes 10 minutes or more to water each one. While waiting on the water I opened up the shop and fired up the Model A and drove it around to the side of the yard where the tree's are. Gave the truck a good rinsing and drove it around the block and back into the shop. Gave it a quick dry with a towel. When I finished the tree's I set the sprinkler and fired up the vette. Backed it out and locked up the shop. Drove over to the car wash and cleaned up and headed home.
Candy was finishing up paying the bills. When she got done we took the vette over and mailed the bills. Then took a spin through Old Colorado City and up to Manitou Springs. The weather was great today so it was a good day to take a drive out under the sun. We pulled back into the shop and locked up the doors. Turned off the water and headed home.
I plan on walking to work tomorrow and will take the long way and make up for not walking today.

Back to work tomorrow
Using the second week to work around the house and shop and
managed to get a lot of items off my list.
I finished both the east and west walls at the shop. To get rid of the dust I spray out the shop
with the hose. Straitened everything up
and starting working on my list for the back wall. The shop yard is actually looking pretty
good as I was able to get some water on it this week. Pulled a lot of weeds and mowed
everything. Today I pulled the corvette
out from under wraps and took it to the car wash and detailed it. Looks great, went to Sonic for a cherry coke
when I was done.
Around the house I finally finished out the basement
hallway. I painted the walls and
ceiling and replaced the door frame and door for the bathroom entry. The hardest part was staining the door, frame and trim. Looks great everywhere now except for the
bathroom. I talked with a plumber today
and he is going to give me the names of a couple of people that do shower
surrounds. I can start getting some
estimates and find out what I need to do to prep the walls for the new panels. Once the shower is done then I can start
working on the rest of the bathroom that I can do myself.
After working at the shop all week I needed to get my truck
all cleaned up. I detailed it yesterday
and it took about two hours. It was pretty
nasty.
Candy should be home soon, so I need to run. Told her we would go for a ride in the
corvette and get a coffee.
I hope to have some new stories and pictures form the trail
as I plan to start walking back to work and getting some miles in.
Happy Hiking!

Pigeon in the Chimney
Just returned home from a car show this evening, there is a
group that meets on Tuesday’s at Culvers http://www.culvers.com/restaurants/colorado-spring-lake-plaza
. When we got home from work, we were
trying to decide what to do for Dinner.
Remembered about the meet up at Culvers, so we dusted off the corvette and headed to
the show and dinner.
About twenty cars all together of different makes, models
and years showed up. Two other corvettes
were already there, a 1962 and a 2005. I
got a lot of nice comments and answered a few questions about the car with
other enthusiast and customers.
For showing up the owner of the Culvers gave us a card that
gets us 10% off our order anytime we go in, so that was cool.
I had gotten home earlier than Candy this evening and I was
sitting in the living room on the phone and I heard what sounded like squirrels
running over the top of the house. But
this time is was louder than usual. A
few minutes later I heard it again and then again after that. When I finished my call it happened again. I went outside and looked and didn’t see
anything on the roof. When I came back
in I heard them again. I walked over to
the fireplace and it happed again only louder this time. I opened the doors on the fireplace and
looked in, didn’t see anything. It was
dark so I found a flashlight and stuck my head in and look up the chimney and
there was (and still is) a pigeon sitting on the flu.
It was trying to fly back up to get out, that’s what I was
hearing. I tried to reach up and grab
it so that I could get it out, but when I did it dropped down behind the flu
and now I can’t get to it. I bent a
hanger to see if I could get it back to a place where I can catch it but that
didn’t work. Not sure what to do
now. We decided to leave the doors open
with the hopes it would come down and out.
I don’t really want a bird in the house but I don’t want a dead one in
the fireplace as that will smell the place up.
I may end up having to call Billy the Exterminator to come over for this
Job.
More to come on the Pigeon story, I will let you know how this all plays out.
