When do you really get a Vacation?

I started my vacation today, but when is a vacation really a vacation. I think part of the problem is that I am so anal that I am afraid I am going to miss something. So I am always checking email to keep current on what is going on. It is liked being a smoker or hooked on drugs. With technology I can keep current and be found just about anywhere I go. Even though I am off I have a sales call tomorrow and plan on doing it from the Mountain with my phone and IPad. I don’t know why I worry as I work with a team of very talented people who all know what to do.

So my first day off was very busy and I hope to keep just as busy the rest of the week. This morning Candy and I drove up to Section 16 and did the Palmer Loop Trail. This is a great trail as the scenery is beautiful and after you get up the first 1.8/miles the remainder of this 5.8/mile hike is downhill. This is also part of the Ring the Peak Trail. The initial incline goes from 6,630ft to 7,725ft a nice 1,086ft climb in 1.8/miles.

We made pretty good time and actually passed two groups on our way up. I packed chicken that I had cooked last night for dinner as well as two turkey sandwiches. We didn’t get to the food until we got back to the truck. We opted for the sandwiches as the chicken would have been a little messy, but I did have napkins with us.

Then we headed to the office where I had to drop off a few items and then headed home. Once home we hopped in the hot tub and relaxed for a bit. Then I threw a roast in the oven. I am cooking it in Cream of Mushroom soup, Wine, Tomato Paste and Garlic. It should be ready soon so I will let you know how it came out.  (AWESOME!) cook at 350 for about 4 to 5 hours depending on size!

We made our list for the Thanksgiving dinner and headed out to the store. I am glad that we went today as the store wasn’t too packed. Hey and lucky enough we found everything we were looking for. Made it home and got everything put away and then started a fire in the fire place. Ready to just kick-back for a while and then lay out my clothes for tomorrows outing.

Slow going this month!

This month has just been so busy that I haven’t been able to get my miles in like I need to. Had co-workers in from NJ and NY plus several client meetings. For this month I am only up to 40/miles and am coming up short by about 60. I will be traveling next week so that is not going to help.

I did manage to get Palmer Loop Trail, Mt. Cutler and a few trips back & forth to work in. On Sunday, Candy I walked from the house to Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby. Took an empty backpack with me so I could carry back the groceries. Turned out to be about 7/miles round trip and had a great time. Find you don’t overspend when you have to carry it 3/miles.

Palmer Loop Trail

On Tuesday me and one of the guys from the office did the Palmer Loop trail. It was the first time for him and he had a good time. We got a late start and ended up coming down in the dark. It was actually pretty fun and since I have done this trail several times new where to go. I think we are going to head out next week and do the incline.

Well today I have broken the 100/mile mark. I now only need 98.43/miles by the end of Feb.

The Party is Over!

Well the Holidays are over for 2008 and we have moved into 2009. I have to go back to work tomorrow and honestly I am ready. We received about 8 inches of snow last night and this morning.

I crawled out of bed at about 6am this morning and headed up to the Palmer Loop Trail. The road was slick and I was the first one to the parking lot. I loaded up and headed up the trail. It was still dark so for about 30 minutes I used my head lamp to light the way. The first two miles are pretty steep and the remaining 3.8 are down hill. I took a nice little tumble on the way up. I didn’t think much about it until I put knelt down to put my snow shoes on. When I stood up there was blood on the snow from where I had scraped my knee. When I got home and looked at it, it was just a little scratch but my pants were stuck to my knee and it started bleeding again after taking them off.

I only got a couple of pic’s today, but had a great time!!!

Palmer Loop Trail

Well this month is turning out to be pretty decent as far as miles. As of today I now have 111.32/Miles in for the month of December. Couple of days left to rack up a few more. I received a new camera for Christmas and have included a couple of pic’s below from the Palmer Loop Trail hike that I did today.
