Stearman

In the evenings I am still trying to spend a little time on my models.  This is the fifth Stearman that I have completed and I get a little quicker and better at each build.  I hope to have some soon that will be in our company colors with our company logo.  I think the team will like them.

Trying to get back at it.

On Easter, I started my hiking again.  I have been at it for the last 14 days and have logged some decent miles.  I am just a little over 55/Miles for this month.  Going to be tough next week as I have to travel, but will try.

We had a cold snap and had some frost.  I got out early in the morning and did a walk through BCP.   It was cold, but nice to be out and with the frost, it really changed the scenery.  Of course, I snapped a selfie while I was at it.  Be thankful I didn't make it full size. HAHA

A Great Saturday and an Happy Easter

I hope you had a happy Easter.  Around here on Saturday we fired up the smoker and cooked up Ham.   While I had the smoker going I put on some Trout and we had it for lunch.  Seems like we spent most of the day cooking.  We sure enjoyed the meal.  Clark and some other friends of ours came over to join us.

On Easter Sunday we loaded up and headed out for a hike.  Clark came with us and we headed down to Brush Hollow and walked along the lake.   Had a great time and got a couple of nice bird pictures.   We saw a Red Hawk and an Osprey.

It was a really nice hike and nice that we could all be together.  I wish the weather would have been a little warmer.  It was cold and glad that we were bundled up.  After our hike, we drove to Penrose and had a late breakfast.

Looking Good

As you know Eric is now working for Disney.   I grabbed this picture of his FB page.  The young man is looking good!

Hang'em High

I needed something to do with my airplanes.  I was keeping them in the office and needed to clean up and get some room back.   Took them over to the shop and hung them all up in the ceiling.  Not sure I am happy with the look, but they are up and out of the way for now.

Y and T

Oh man, I had a great time Saturday night.  We went and saw Y and T at the black sheep.  Guys rocked the house and played for almost two hours straight.

You could tell they have been doing this for a while, as they were smooth and give a really good live show.  Most of the crowd was older but that didn't slow anyone down.

Smokey

Only you can prevent forest fires.  With as dry as it has been, we are going to have high fire danger this summer.  Actually, have one or two burning right now.

We ran into Smokey when we were in Monte Vista on Friday.  Who doesn't want a picture with the big guy?

Getting Squirrely

I was sitting on the back porch this last Sunday.  Threw a few peanut shells in the wheelbarrow on the patio.  Didn't take long and Rocky showed up and was ready to get himself one.

Sandhill Cranes

Had a good time down in Monte Vista this last Friday.   Drove down Thursday evening and spent the night so we could get up early and go Crane hunting.  It was a nice drive and some great scenery.

We drove out to the Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge  early in the morning.  Candy took some great pictures, which I have shared below.

After checking out the Cranes we headed into town for a little breakfast and then visited a craft festival they were having.  Then hit a few antique stores on the way back.  Didn't find anything and wow prices were high.

Checking In

I have been so busy at work that I have failed to make any blog entries.  I have also failed to get off my ass and walk every day.  Need to get back at it.  It's so easy to make excuses to not walk.  I have my clothes ready to walk tomorrow, so let's see if I can make it happen.  I know Pebbles would love to get out as well.

I am taking this Friday off work and we are driving down to the 35th Annual Monte Vista Crane Festival.  Every year over 20,000 cranes come to this area for about six weeks as they migrate.  Should be some good photo and educational opportunities.  I will be sure to post some pictures when I get back.

On Saturday we are going to see Y and T in concert.  Not sure what to expect but hope it will be a good show.   These guys were popular in the early 80's and had a couple of hits like Don't Stop Runnin, Summertime Girls, Lipstick and Leather, Mean Streak and a few more.  Should be a good time.

The weather has been nice for the most part.  I have been able to spend a little time over at the shop and work on a few projects.  I took all my paper airplanes and hung them from the ceiling.  Looks pretty good.  will take a picture next time I am there.  I am also

working on another tiller wheel flower and making a chest from an old treadle sewing machine coffin case cover.  What is a coffin case cover?  Well here is a picture of one.

For the one I have, I used my table saw and cut the top off.  Next, I will add hinges and a bottom and will have a cool looking chest to store stuff in.

I did manage to get another airplane completed.  Took me about two weeks to knock this one out.  Did a little each evening, but got it done.
