I promise to get better about providing updates. They are really more for me so that I can have something to leave behind for the future Robinson's.
What have I been up to since the last post? I don't think I can remember it all. Was on the road for a while and now back for a couple of weeks.
So let's see, we had an eclipse, old news now. But Candy took a picture of the shadows during the eclipse and you can see how they were all moon shaped. Very Cool! Guess we will be waiting a few years until the next one comes around. I was working from home that day and actually made a pinhole box so we could look in and see the eclipse as it was happening. Remember don't look at the sun our you can burn your eyes and go blind.
I spent a little time working on my sewing table stand. I have no idea what I am going to do with this when done. We have no space in the house for it and I am at of room at the shop. I am rethinking the top and may just find a piece of marble to use instead of wood. If I do go with wood, I am thinking about doing a barn quilt design on it. Will give me something creative to do this winter.
Let's see so in the last month I was in Chicago, Boston and covered most of the state of FL. Candy flew down on a Friday to meet me in Orlando. We spent the weekend and was able to hang out with Eric and Shannon. We had a nice dinner Friday evening, Saturday we spent all of the day at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Had a blast and rode most of the rides and saw all the animals. We got lucky and were able to get fast passes to the new Avitar ride. I can't remember the name, but it was pretty cool. That evening we had a nice dinner at one of the park restaurants. Eric was able to get us 40% off.
Sunday morning we met up for breakfast and then took the boy out shopping for some new threads. Got him a couple of work outfits so he will be looking good. After shopping, we dropped him off and said our goodbyes. Then we made the drive down to Sanibel Island.
Our plan was to be there through Sunday but thanks to Irma our trip got cut short. The boys were supposed to come down that weekend but ended up staying home because of the hurricane. That was a real bummer.
I did manage to get a little fishing in and caught a few that I threw back. We spent a good portion of our 2.5 days on the beach hunting for shells. Even though our trip was short we still had a decent haul of shells.
I don't know why shell hunting is so addictive, but we spend a lot of time doing it, while we are there. After the first day you are so sore from all the up and down trying to grab them before the wave pushes them away. You can see I have my shell bag and my grabber net, so they don't get away. We would be out at both low tides as that is usually the best time to find them. To get the bigger ones, you can just float in the water and run your hands across the bottom. If you feel something sticking up chances are it is a shell and you just do a little digging. Problem is, most of the time when you find them, there is something living in them and you have to throw them back. I am sure we will make another trip soon.
This weekend Candy was out with some friends so I had time to myself. I went to the flea market and then spent the rest of the day at the shop. I scraped together some old wood I had and decided to make another cufflink display holder. Instead of sitting on the shelf this one hangs on the wall. I cleaned up the wood and then drilled all the holes. Once done I sanded and then covered it with some fabric we had. I used decoupage to add the fabric to the wood. Came out really nice and looks good on the wall.
